Reflux Rebels

I know, I know, I've been neglecting my blog. Gunner doesn't give me much computer time lately! I have a HUGE favor to ask. I am a member of a group called Reflux Rebels. Their knowledge and support has been invaluable as we've struggled with Gunner's reflux and food intolerances. There have been some great advances in reflux treatment in the last 10 yrs, however, Drs haven't moved on from the things they learned in medical school years before that. That leads them to prescribe ineffective medications, ineffective dosage, or do un-necessary surgeries out of ignorance. A few months ago, our GI gave up and said that surgery was the only option to help him feel better. Well, it wasn't and he is doing great now reflux-wise and it's because of Reflux Rebels. They are starting a nonprofit to help out parents struggling through this. Gunner's formula is over $500/month and some medicines we've been on have been $200/month. Thank God we are able to afford this, but there are so many people out there who can't. This is where you come in:

PepsiCo is giving away $1.3million each month for 12 months, it began in February 2010 and ends in January 2011. They are giving away (2) $250k grants, (10) $50k, (10) $25k and (10) $5k. That’s 32 ‘prizes’ each month. They have established this program for individuals, non-profits and small businesses that are doing good things for the benefit of the ‘community’, within (at least) 1 of the 50 states or DC. It works on a voting system by the ‘general public’. Each person must sign up on www.refresheverything.com as a “VOTER”. Don’t worry, it doesn’t ask for a lot of personal info, just your name and age. Then you can vote up to 10 times per day but only ONCE PER IDEA, which means Reflux Rebels can receive 1 vote per day from you.

Voting begins on June 1st and ends on June 30th. There are links on the voting page that will let you post this on your Facebook and Twitter. Do it! Ask your husbands to sign up. Ask your family, friends, children that are over the age of 13. Email your co-workers, email those that don’t play on Facebook or Twitter. Tell everyone to vote for Reflux Rebels! We only have to be in the top 10 to receive the grant money. Let’s aim for FIRST PLACE! IF we are in the top 100 in the $50k category, but not one of the top 10 grant recipients, the Reflux Rebels idea will automatically be carried over to each subsequent month for voting. Let’s get this done in June though so we can get this ball rolling!!! This amount of money would give Reflux Rebels the boost it needs to get things done. This money is going to get Reflux Rebels established as non-profit, help finance our Vegas Education Expo and establish our monetary fund for parents that are unable to pay for their child’s medication or hypo/elemental formula. So, here are the particulars:- Voting begins on June 1, 2010 and ends on June 30, 2010.- Go to www.refresheverything.com or www.refresheverything.com/refluxrebels and sign up as a VOTER.- Reflux Rebels will be listed under the Health category and under the $50,000 category. You can search one or the other or both.- Each person can vote ONCE per DAY for Reflux Rebels. There may be other worthy causes on there, so take a look around and see if there is anything that peaks your interest. (I am personally NOT going to vote on anything that ‘competes’ with Reflux Rebels. Competition is anything else in the $50,000 category only)- VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!! Tell everyone you know to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE for Reflux Rebels!!! Each ‘voter’ must have their own valid email address.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go vote every day in June and pass the word on!! This is a great cause that has the ability to help a lot of families and babies suffering from reflux.
